I took the car to the dealer - feel obligated as its still in warranty - and they changed the oil for free - work order and window sticker say 0w-16 which is what the manual calls for. In reviewing the J300 specs, there is quite a bit of overlap in the spec, and HTHS isn't that far apart?

I would be fine doing that if I had an oil temperature gauge. There is an oil cooler (coolant to oil) built into the filter housing on the truck, so it’s probably fine. My Amsoil dealer has a showroom where I can walk in an purchase smaller amounts at one time. With Schaeffers, I had to get $400 at one time to get their best prices.

As the overall viscosity goes down, base oil quality has been steadily improving. Toyota changed it back to a spin on (canister) filter for 2024. You can even put an OCOD (PH4967) on if you dare. You know that your first 2 10k oil changes are free from Toyota.
