Be careful if ordering since the Feds are OK with the Black Powder gun going from whom to whomever (unless in a stupid state), but they have a big problem with the BP gun and a 45LC cartridge cylinder going along with the ride. I would not even remotely consider having one milled to provide clearance for a loading gate. Instead, I'd use one of the drop in cylinders.

My argument is based on paragraph (C) of the definition of an "Antique": (C) any muzzle loading rifle, muzzle loading shotgun, or muzzle loading pistol, which is designed to use black powder, or a black powder substitute, and which cannot use fixed ammunition. That would be using a .429 bullet which would be way to small. Now once you use a 45 colt conversion cylinder you need to stick with black powder type loads.

IMHO, the 1858s are one of the easiest revolvers to remove and replace cylinders in.
